Mirik councillors told to resign - Morcha nips rivalry
VIVEK CHHETRI,TT, Darjeeling, Dec. 25: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has directed two senior party leaders from Mirik to resign from the post of ward councillors three days after their swearing-in, an indication that the party is keen on nipping intra-outfit rivalry in the bud.
Arun Ghisingh, the vice-president of the Morcha’s Mirik Mahakuma Samiti who had been elected councillor from Ward 2, resigned on Saturday. But two-time chairperson of Mirik municipality and a central committee member, L.B. Rai, has decided to hold a meeting with the residents of his ward before resigning.
“I tendered my resignation on the direction of party president Bimal Gurung. I am not above the party and I will always accept decisions taken by the party,” said Ghisingh
Asked if Gurung had asked him not to contest the election from Ward 2, Ghisingh replied in the negative.
“There was no such instruction that I should not contest the civic elections,” said Ghisingh.
Rai admitted that the party had asked him to step down from his post. “It is true that such a direction had come from the party president. Since the residents have wanted me to contest the elections, it is my duty to tell them about the development before resigning. I am holding a meeting with the residents today,” said Rai. He is expected to resign tomorrow.
Gurung had earlier indicated that he was not happy with the two senior leaders for contesting the civic elections in Mirik. He had said: “Mirik leaders of two communities, Tamang and Rai, are fighting.” Ghisingh is a Tamang while Rai is from the rival community.
The Morcha president’s annoyance lay in the fact that unlike Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong, the party candidates could not be elected uncontested in five of the nine Mirik municipality seats.
In a message to senior leaders, Gurung, while addressing party supporters in Darjeeling on November 20, had said: “Even if you win, I will not make you the chairperson.”
“I had earlier told the central committee members that they should not contest the elections but instead give an opportunity to committed party workers. The problem in Mirik cropped up because central committee members were trying to field their own candidates and at the end they could not be made to withdraw from the fray,” he had said.
Of the five who contested against the Morcha candidates in Mirik, three were from the party itself and were later expelled. But they stuck to their stand and contested the elections as Independents.
Both Ghisingh and Rai had to fight the elections. But even after winning with comfortable margins, the two leaders were not considered for the posts of the chairperson or vice-chairperson.
Instead, Gurung appointed two greenhorns Mala Subba and M.K. Zimba as chairperson and vice-chairperson of the municipality. The two leaders were also ignored for the post of chairman-in-council, an indication that the party was not happy with the tug-of-war between the two leaders.
Darjeeling district magistrate Saumitra Mohan said the state election commission would notify when the elections to the vacated seats would be held. “The resignation will have to be forwarded to the election commission, which will again issue a notification on the elections to the wards.”
GJM demands, Mamata assures

The state government, however, told the delegation that the GTA bill has been sent to President for approval.

GJM plans to take backward region route for funds
TNN, Dec 25, 2011, KOLKATA: As chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Saturday that a whole lot of health projects would come up with Central funds in 11 backward districts of the state, leaders of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, after a meeting with the CM and senior state government officials in Kolkata, demanded that Darjeeling be listed as a backward district.
From what the CM said, the advantage of being listed as a backward district was obvious. She said 30% of the funds for these health projects had already been sanctioned by the Centre, the detailed project reports had been drawn up and balance of 70% would be released next year. The other districts would have to wait for the fund-starved state government to take up similar projects.
But according to the list, only four districts in North Bengal are listed as backward: Jalpaiguri, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Malda. "Darjeeling must be included in the list of backward regions. We are not getting any fund at all," said GJM general secretary Roshan Giri. Chief secretary Samar Ghosh said the state government would write to the Centre for inclusion of Darjeeling in the backward region list.
Earlier, Giri, along with GJM central committee member Harka Bahadur Chhetri, had an hour-long meeting with the CM. They also had a separate meeting with the chief secretary and home secretary G D Gautama.
The visit of GJM leaders was to discuss some thorny issues that had developed because of delay in formation of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. Though the GJM leaders asserted that they had not budged from the demand for a separate Gorkhaland state, from what Giri said it was obvious that this was not on their immediate list of priorities. "The important thing is inclusion of Darjeeling in the list of backward regions," Giri replied when asked about a recent public meeting of Gorkha Yuba Morcha at Mongpoo where the youth wing of GJM had asked for revival of the Gorkhaland demand.
Giri wanted, however, the process of formation of GTA to be expedited, saying that the government-appointed high power committee that was identifying areas in Dooars and Terai that would be included in GTA was "slow in its work." The tenure of the committee was supposed to have ended on January 18, but now it had asked for an extension.
The chief secretary said the high-power committee would be given an extension if it wanted. He said the process of formation of GTA had already been initiated. The bill on GTA that had been passed in the assembly was awaiting the President's assent, it could take another about three months. After that the process of delimitation of constituencies for holding the GTA election would be carried. The whole process could take three to four months.
Among the other issues the GJM leaders discussed were employment of Gorkha youths in the police and the para-military forces which had been agreed upon in the GTA agreement and clearance of pending electricity and telephone bills in the hills. Giri said the bridge at Bijenbari that had collapsed would be reconstructed.

जुरीको यो आँटिलो कदमले आजसम्म अकादमीमा भइरहेको धॉंधलीबाजीलाई निमिट्यान्न पार्नसक्छ| यही यसवर्षको हाम्रो राम्रो उपलब्धी मान्नुपर्छ| पोल खोल्नसक्ने साहस सबैकहॉं हुँदैन, दुई जुरी विद्वानलाई म त बधाई दिन्छु| देवेन्द्र सुव्वा देवले पनि लेखेका छन्, प्रस्ताव गरिएका कृतिहरू राष्ट्रिय स्तरमा प्रतिनिधि गर्ने योग्य छैन भन्नु त्यस कृतिहरू अयोग्य भन्ने होइन भन्ने पनि बुझ्नुपर्छ किन भने कोही बेला रङ चढेको फल पनि कॉंचै हुन्छ| जुरीको निर्णय कथन अनुसार ठीक लाग्यो| तर चयन समितिले यी कृतिहरू भन्दा पनि स्तरीय कृतिहरू पठाउनु सक्नु पर्ने हो| आजसम्म गुप्त प्रधानले किन पुरस्कार पाएका छैनन्| गोपीनारायण प्रधानले पाउन सक्दा|
एउटा जिज्ञासा के भने डा. नेपाल अनि भण्डारी साहित्यसँग सम्बन्धित व्यक्तिहरू हुन्| तर डा. लामा कसरी जुरीमा आए? किन भने उनी त साहित्यसँग सम्बन्धित होइनन्| उनका कति लेखादि प्रकाशित होलान् तर साहित्यिक कृतिको मूल्याङ्कन गरेर पुरस्कारका लागि प्रस्तुत गर्ने कार्यमा के उनी उपयुक्त व्यक्ति थिए? यस घटनाले साहित्यमा हुने भ्रष्टचारको खुलासा गरेको छ| आजसम्म पाएका कतिपय पुरस्कार कसरी पाएका छन् त्यो सबैलाई थाहा छ| लाजमर्दो कुरो पुरस्कार नपाउनु होइन लाजमर्दो कुरो त पुरस्कार कसरी पायौँ त्यो हो| चर्चित कवि भूपेन्द्र सुब्बाले पनि जुरीकै निर्णय सही रहेको लेखेका छन्, जुरीके कुरा ठीक लाग्यो| पुरस्कारले पुस्तकको हैन, पुस्तकले पुरस्कारको गरिमा उठाएको होस्| लविङ गरेरै पुरस्कार लुट्न खोज्ने जमातलाई जुरीको यो गतिलो र आँटिलो जवाब हो| जुरीको निर्णयप्रति 'लाइक'गर्नेहरूको भीड पनि गतिलै छ| के देखियो भने अकादमी पुरस्कारको निम्ति चल्ने लविङ र मनोपोली कसैलाई पनि मन परेको छैन| सबैको टिप्पणीले चयनप्रक्रियामा प्रशस्त लविङ र मनोपोली रहेको खुलिएको छ| विवादलाई राम्रो बहसको शुरुवात रहेको मानिएको छ तर यसलाई बहसकै रुपमा लिइने हो होइन, भविष्यले बताउने देखिन्छ|
अकादमी पुरस्कार प्रकरण : फेसबुकमा साहित्यकारहरु के भन्छन् !
डी के वाइबा, कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ २५ दिसम्बर। नेपाली भाषा साहित्यमा सन् १९७५ देखि निरन्तर प्रदान गरिन्दै आएको साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार यसपाली नदिने घोषणा हुनसाथै अनेकौं विवाद अघि आएको छ। साहित्य अकादमी नेपाली भाषा परामर्श परिषदका संयोजक डा जीवन नाम्दुङले दुई ज्युरीहरुको टाउकोमा दोष खन्याएर आफु आरोप मुक्त हुने पाईला चालेका छन् भने यस सम्बन्धि आनेकौं टिप्पणीहरु एक पछि अर्को गर्दै अघि आउन थालेको छ। नेपाली साहित्यले अकादमी पुरस्कार नपाएको पहिलो घटना भए पनि यस पुरस्कार नपाउँने अन्य भाषा साहित्यले भने थुप्रै पल्ट साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार नपाएको घटना छ। तर अहिले नेपाली भाषा साहित्यले पुरस्कार नपाएको घट्नाले जुन हल्लाको जोर पक्रेको छ अन्य भाषा साहित्यले पुरस्कार नपाउँदा त्यस्तो हल्ला भएको थाह छैन। पुरस्कार योग्यको कृति नभए पुरस्कार नदिने साहित्य अकादमीको नियम रहेको छ। सोहि नियमलाई आधार बनाएर ज्युरीले यसपल्ट नेपाली साहित्यमा पुरस्कार योग्यको कृति नरहेको बताउँदै पुरस्कार नदिने घोषणा गरेको थियो। ज्युरीको उक्त निर्णय सार्वजनिक हुनसाथै नेपाली साहित्य जगतमा भुईँचालो आएको छ।
यस घटनालाई लिएर अहिले पत्र पत्रिकातिर जति चर्चा भईरहेको छ त्यसको दोब्बर चर्चा फेसबुकमा भईरहेको छ। यस घटनालाई केन्द्र गरेर अधिकांश मतहरु ज्युरिको निर्णयमा सहमति जनाउँने प्रकारका रहेका छन् भने ज्युरीका मत खण्डन गरेकाहरु पनि छन्। साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार एकचोटि नपाउँदा नेपाली साहित्यमा कुनै खति नहुने तर पुरस्कार पाउँने कृति योग्यको नरहे अन्य भाषा साहित्यको अघि नेपाली भाषा साहित्य लाज मर्दो कुरा हुने पनि मानिसहरु तर्क अघि राखिरहेक छन्। यति मात्र होइन बिगतका दिनहरुमा साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारको निम्ति धाँधली हुन्थ्यो भन्ने कुराको खुलासा पनि यस घटनाले उदाँगो पारेको मानिसहरु बताईरहेका छन्। बिगतका दिनहरुमा अकादमी पुरस्कार पाएका कृतिहरुमाथि विवाद भएकै हो अनि ती घटनाहरुलाई सम्झना गर्दै एकजना साहित्यकारले यसपाली पनि शंकरदेव ढकालले साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्राप्त गर्ने हल्ला एक महिना अघि नै फैलिएको थियो। तिनले आफ्नो नाम खुलासा नगरिदिने शर्तमा भने यो कुरा कसरी एक महिना अघि नै चर्चामा आयो अनि महिना दिन पछि ज्युरीमा पुगेको पुस्तकहरुमा शंकरदेव ढकालको पुस्तक पुग्नाले यो कुरा पुष्टी भएको दाबी पनि गरे।
सुत्रले बताए अनुसार शंकरदेव ढकालको कृति चयन समितिले पहिला तीनवटा पठाएको पनि थाह लागेको छ। यदि यस कुरा सत्य हो भने अकादमी पुरस्कारमा भ्रष्टचार हुने कुरा निश्चित हुने भएको छ। यस घटना सम्बन्धी सह प्राध्यपक देवचन्द्र सुब्बाले पुरस्कार नपाउनु लाजमर्दो कुरो होइन अयोग्य कृतिले पुरस्कार कसरी पायो त्यो पो लाजमर्दोको कुरो हुने बताउँदै यसपाली ज्युरीले जुन निर्णय गरेको छ त्यो अत्यन्तै सराहनीय रहेको बताएका छन। तिनले यस निर्णयले आगमी दिनहरुमा साहित्यकारहरुलाई स्तरीय लेखनको निम्ति प्रोत्साहन मिल्ने बताउँदै यस निर्णयलाई सकारात्मक लिनुपर्ने सुझाव राखेका छन्। यसै सन्दर्भमा सुजन झाङले पुरस्कार नपाउँने कृति अयोग्य नरहेको बताउँदै ज्युरीको मतमा असहमति जनाएका छन्। तिनले साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार इपहिले देखि नै लबि बनाएर पाउँने चलन रहेको प्रसंग झिक्दै कृतिहरु अयोग्य हुन भन्ने ज्युरिले कस्तो योग्य कृतिहरुले पुरस्कार पाउँछ भन्ने स्पष्ट पार्नुपर्ने माग गरेका छन्। अर्कोतिर युवा साहित्यकार सुधीर छेत्रीले रिपेयर गर्नु भन्दा प्रिपेयर राम्रो भनि फेसबुकमा लेखेका छन् ।
तिनले यो ऐतिहासिक निर्णयले केही क्षण हामीलाई बिझाए पनि पछि यसको परिणाम राम्रो हुन्छ भन्ने आशा छ भन्दै साहित्य जस्तो पवित्र क्षेत्रमा भ्रष्टाचारलाई नलुकाई सार्वजनिकरण गर्न सकेकोमा जुरी बधाईका पात्र छन् भनि बताएका छन्। यसै सिलसिलामा युवा साहित्यकार निमा 'निची' शेर्पा,टीका भाई, वासुदेव पुलामी, जितेन्द्र खवास 'अमुर्त' आदिले ज्युरीको निर्णयमा सहमति जनाएका छन्। सोहि क्रममा युवा कवि भुपेन्द्र सुब्बा, रुपेश शर्मा अशोक प्रशान्त आदिले पनि ज्युरी कै कुरामा सहमति जनाउँदै नेपाली साहित्यमा अनेकौं स्तरीय कृतिहरु प्रकाशित भईरहेको भए पनि चयन समितिले स्तरीय कृतिहरुलाई छोडेर अन्य कृतिहरु पठाएकै परिणाम यसो भएको बताएका छन्। यस सम्बन्धमा प्रो. मोहन पी. दहालसित जान्न खोज्दा आफु अकादमी सित सम्बद्ध नरहेको बताउँदै ज्युरिको निर्णय नै अन्तिम हुने भएको कारण यस सम्बन्धि केहि प्रतिक्रिया नरहेको बताए।
‘अकादमी पुरस्कारको विवादमाथि श्तेवपत्र जारी गरिपर्छ’
कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ, २५ दिसम्बर| बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले १०२ -औं प्रकरण पालन गर्दै नेपाली साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारबारे हालै चलेको विवादमाथि बहस गर्यो| पुरस्कार प्रदान गर्ने वा नगर्ने विषयमा जुन रँडाको सिर्जना भयो त्यसलाई दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण ठहर गर्दै बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले एउटा प्रस्ताव पारित गरेको छ| उक्त प्रस्तावमा यस घटनाबाट नेपाली साहित्यप्रेमीहरू मर्माहत बनेको बताउँदै भावी दिनमा यस प्रकारको दुर्घटना रोकथाम गर्नका लागि यसपालिको काण्डमा देखा परेका सम्पूर्ण घटनावलीहरूमाथि नेपाली परामर्श समिति तथा सम्बन्धित पक्षले एउटा श्वेतपत्र जारी गरेर सबै साहित्यानुरागीहरूसमक्ष पेश गर्नुपर्ने माग राखिने कुरा उल्लेख छ| यसरी नै युवा साहित्यानुरागीहरूलाई यस्ता काण्डदेखि निराश नहुने अनि पुरस्कारको लागि लेखन होइन लेखनको लागि पुरस्कार भन्ने ठानेर आफ्नो काम गर्दै जाने सुझाउ पनि बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले दिएको छ|
शतकीय प्रकरणको लोकप्रियताको कारण कालेबुङको बसिबियॉंलो-ले साहित्यिक जगत्मा सर्वत्रबाट सकारात्मक प्रतिक्रियाहरू प्राप्त गर्नथालेको अनुभव पोख्दै आगामी दिनका बसिबियॉंलो-हरूमा पुस्तक मेला तथा विभिन्न स्थानहरूको साहित्यिक भ्रमण गरिने पनि यसै दिन चर्चा गरियो| यसरी नै बसिबियॉंलो स्मारिकाको अनुपूरक अङ्क आगामी जनवरी महिनामा प्रकाशित गरिने जसमा शतकीय प्रकरणका सम्पूर्ण विवरण, लेखाजोखा, साहित्यकारहरूका सम्पर्क नम्बर आदि गाभिइने जानकारी पनि आयोजना पक्षले कार्यक्रममा दिएको छ| यहॉंको महकुमा पुस्तकालयमा सम्पन्न बसिबियॉंलोको यस प्रकरणलाई कालेबुङ महाविद्यालयकी छात्रा कविता छेत्रीले घरपटित्व गरेकी थिइन्| उक्त प्रकरणमा स्थानीय साहित्यप्रेमी, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताहरूलगायत अतिथि साहित्यकारहरू सिलगड़ीबाट सी. के. श्रेष्ठ, मल्लीबाट हरीश मोक्तान अल्लारे अनि गान्तोकबाट सुदेश खाती प्रमुखले उपस्थित रहेका थिए|
यस दिनको कार्यक्रममा मुख्य रुपले गत नोभेम्बरमा पालन गरिएको दुइ दिने शतकीय प्रकरणमाथि छलफल भयो भने सोही अवसरमा आयोजना गरिएको चिट्ठा खेलाको परिणाम पनि घोषित गरियो जसमा कविता छेत्री, सुमती प्रधान, एस. ए. अहमद अनि सुनिता छेत्रीले नगद राशी प्राप्त गरेको घोषणा गरियो| शतकीय प्रकरणमा युवा अनि महिला साहित्यप्रेमीहरूको आशातीत उपस्थिति र सहभागिता रहेको विषयलाई स्वागतयोग्य ठहर गर्दै निकट भविष्यमा पनि सोही क्रम जारी रहने आशा व्यक्त गरिएको कार्यक्रममा मूल संयोजक शमसेर अलीले कालेबुङमा सम्पन्न हुने प्रस्तावित पर्यटन उत्सवबारे जानकारी गराए| शतकीय प्रकरणका कमी-कमजोरीहरूमाथि व्यापक रूपमा छलफल गरिएपछि उपस्थित साहित्यप्रेमीहरूले शतकीय प्रकरणपछि नयॉं अनुहारमा समाजअघि उभ्याउनका लागि बसिबियॉंलो -लाई अबउसो समाजको सुनिर्माणको दिशामा मुखरित गरिनुपर्ने आशय व्यक्त गरे| यसबारे, गाउँ-समाजमा विद्यमान् कतिपय असहज विषयहरूमा सुधार ल्याउने दिशामा कार्य गरिनुपर्ने सबैले अनुभव पोखे|
मूलतः सामाजिक रीतिथितिमा प्रचलित उत्सव बिहेबटुल रहेको अनि लोकलाजको कारण यस उत्सवलाई वर्तमान कालमा बुताले भ्याए पनि नभ्याए पनि भव्यतापूर्वक पालन गरिनैपर्ने चलन रहे तापनि बिहेघरको आर्थिक पक्ष र दाम्पत्य जोडीको भविष्यको उपयोगितालाई मध्यनजर गरेर अनुपयोगी उपहारहरू चढाउनको साटो नगद राशि प्रदान गरेर सहयोग पुर्याउनुपर्ने समयको माग रहेको विचार व्यक्त गरियो| यस विचारलाई कार्यन्वयन गराउनका निम्ति व्यापक प्रचार-प्रसार गर्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता अनुभव गरियो| यसै सिलसिलामा बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले स्थानीय समस्त समाजसचेत बुद्धिजीवी, शिक्षितवर्ग, लेखक-कवि, कलाकार, प्रतिभा, खेलाड़ी, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, विद्यार्थी, पेशागत व्यक्तिहरू, जात-गोष्ठीका संस्थाहरू, सरकारी-गैर सरकारी कर्मचारीवृन्द, सामाजिक संस्था, राजनीतिक सङ्गठन, दोकाने, पसले, मिडियाकर्मी सबैलाई यस विचारलाई व्यापकता दिने आग्रह गरेको छ| यसरी नै तकनिकी साधनहरूलाई पनि यस अभियानमा प्रयोग गरेर इ-मेल, फेसबुक, एस.एम.एस, ट्विटर, ब्लग, वेबसाइट, समाचार-पत्र, पत्रिका, पोष्टर, स्थानीय टिभी च्यानलमार्फत् पनि दाम्पत्य जीवनको नयॉं बाटो, नगद चढाऔं उपहारको साटो भन्ने उक्तिलाई प्रचार-प्रसार गरिदिने आग्रह समस्त सचेतवृन्दलाई बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले गरेको छ|

Chopper trip & golf in hill fest
RAJEEV RAVIDAS, TT, Kalimpong, Dec. 25: The Kalimpong leg of the tea and tourism festival will kick off from tomorrow with “helicopter-hop”, rickshaw rides and a golf competition, events that are not being held in any other hill town hosting the winter extravaganza.
The main venue for the four-day fest will be the Mela Grounds where cultural programmes and musical soirees will be held on all four days.
The Kalimpong leg will begin with a rally that will snake through the main roads of the town before assembling at the Mela Grounds.
To lend an extra flavour to the festival, cultural groups from Assam and Odisha will perform on the first day along with an army band that will march along the streets.
Tourists can also enjoy “helicopter-hop” where one can buy a ticket and go around town for almost 30 minutes in a chopper.
The helicopter will take off from the playground of Dr Graham’s Homes and drop the visitors at the same spot after the trip.
The organisers said the ticket prices have not been decided yet.
Visitors can also take a rickshaw ride from Thanadara to Jeevan Jyoti, a distance of about 1km.
“Rickshaws may be common in the plains but it is a novelty in the hills. We are hiring four rickshaws from Siliguri for the event,” said Tshering Topgay, the secretary of the organising committee.
For those who are not too enthusiastic about taking a rickshaw or a chopper ride, the fest also has to offer a flower show at Janmukti Park near Damber Chowk. The flower show will be open on all four days of the festival.
Those who love golf can get themselves registered and participate in a tournament that will be held at the picturesque Durpin course that belongs to the army.
The tea and tourism festival started in Darjeeling on December 20 and several cultural programmes were organised for the visitors. Mirik and Kurseong will also hold the fest that will end on January 5.
Sourabhee Debbarma and Kapil Thapa, the winner and the first runner-up of Indian Idol IV, will perform at the Mela Ground on the last day of the Kalimpong leg.
“Apart from the two, local singers and bands will also perform on all four days of the fest,” said Topgay.
The organisers are hopeful that the festival will draw a huge crowd. Hotels have registered almost hundred per cent bookings on all four days of the fest. “All the 10 rooms in our hotel are booked till December 29. It is tourist season once more,” said Sarat Rai, the manager of Tribeni Lodge at Thanadara.

सुत्रले बताए अनुसार शंकरदेव ढकालको कृति चयन समितिले पहिला तीनवटा पठाएको पनि थाह लागेको छ। यदि यस कुरा सत्य हो भने अकादमी पुरस्कारमा भ्रष्टचार हुने कुरा निश्चित हुने भएको छ। यस घटना सम्बन्धी सह प्राध्यपक देवचन्द्र सुब्बाले पुरस्कार नपाउनु लाजमर्दो कुरो होइन अयोग्य कृतिले पुरस्कार कसरी पायो त्यो पो लाजमर्दोको कुरो हुने बताउँदै यसपाली ज्युरीले जुन निर्णय गरेको छ त्यो अत्यन्तै सराहनीय रहेको बताएका छन। तिनले यस निर्णयले आगमी दिनहरुमा साहित्यकारहरुलाई स्तरीय लेखनको निम्ति प्रोत्साहन मिल्ने बताउँदै यस निर्णयलाई सकारात्मक लिनुपर्ने सुझाव राखेका छन्। यसै सन्दर्भमा सुजन झाङले पुरस्कार नपाउँने कृति अयोग्य नरहेको बताउँदै ज्युरीको मतमा असहमति जनाएका छन्। तिनले साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार इपहिले देखि नै लबि बनाएर पाउँने चलन रहेको प्रसंग झिक्दै कृतिहरु अयोग्य हुन भन्ने ज्युरिले कस्तो योग्य कृतिहरुले पुरस्कार पाउँछ भन्ने स्पष्ट पार्नुपर्ने माग गरेका छन्। अर्कोतिर युवा साहित्यकार सुधीर छेत्रीले रिपेयर गर्नु भन्दा प्रिपेयर राम्रो भनि फेसबुकमा लेखेका छन् ।
तिनले यो ऐतिहासिक निर्णयले केही क्षण हामीलाई बिझाए पनि पछि यसको परिणाम राम्रो हुन्छ भन्ने आशा छ भन्दै साहित्य जस्तो पवित्र क्षेत्रमा भ्रष्टाचारलाई नलुकाई सार्वजनिकरण गर्न सकेकोमा जुरी बधाईका पात्र छन् भनि बताएका छन्। यसै सिलसिलामा युवा साहित्यकार निमा 'निची' शेर्पा,टीका भाई, वासुदेव पुलामी, जितेन्द्र खवास 'अमुर्त' आदिले ज्युरीको निर्णयमा सहमति जनाएका छन्। सोहि क्रममा युवा कवि भुपेन्द्र सुब्बा, रुपेश शर्मा अशोक प्रशान्त आदिले पनि ज्युरी कै कुरामा सहमति जनाउँदै नेपाली साहित्यमा अनेकौं स्तरीय कृतिहरु प्रकाशित भईरहेको भए पनि चयन समितिले स्तरीय कृतिहरुलाई छोडेर अन्य कृतिहरु पठाएकै परिणाम यसो भएको बताएका छन्। यस सम्बन्धमा प्रो. मोहन पी. दहालसित जान्न खोज्दा आफु अकादमी सित सम्बद्ध नरहेको बताउँदै ज्युरिको निर्णय नै अन्तिम हुने भएको कारण यस सम्बन्धि केहि प्रतिक्रिया नरहेको बताए।
‘अकादमी पुरस्कारको विवादमाथि श्तेवपत्र जारी गरिपर्छ’
कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ, २५ दिसम्बर| बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले १०२ -औं प्रकरण पालन गर्दै नेपाली साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कारबारे हालै चलेको विवादमाथि बहस गर्यो| पुरस्कार प्रदान गर्ने वा नगर्ने विषयमा जुन रँडाको सिर्जना भयो त्यसलाई दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण ठहर गर्दै बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले एउटा प्रस्ताव पारित गरेको छ| उक्त प्रस्तावमा यस घटनाबाट नेपाली साहित्यप्रेमीहरू मर्माहत बनेको बताउँदै भावी दिनमा यस प्रकारको दुर्घटना रोकथाम गर्नका लागि यसपालिको काण्डमा देखा परेका सम्पूर्ण घटनावलीहरूमाथि नेपाली परामर्श समिति तथा सम्बन्धित पक्षले एउटा श्वेतपत्र जारी गरेर सबै साहित्यानुरागीहरूसमक्ष पेश गर्नुपर्ने माग राखिने कुरा उल्लेख छ| यसरी नै युवा साहित्यानुरागीहरूलाई यस्ता काण्डदेखि निराश नहुने अनि पुरस्कारको लागि लेखन होइन लेखनको लागि पुरस्कार भन्ने ठानेर आफ्नो काम गर्दै जाने सुझाउ पनि बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले दिएको छ|
शतकीय प्रकरणको लोकप्रियताको कारण कालेबुङको बसिबियॉंलो-ले साहित्यिक जगत्मा सर्वत्रबाट सकारात्मक प्रतिक्रियाहरू प्राप्त गर्नथालेको अनुभव पोख्दै आगामी दिनका बसिबियॉंलो-हरूमा पुस्तक मेला तथा विभिन्न स्थानहरूको साहित्यिक भ्रमण गरिने पनि यसै दिन चर्चा गरियो| यसरी नै बसिबियॉंलो स्मारिकाको अनुपूरक अङ्क आगामी जनवरी महिनामा प्रकाशित गरिने जसमा शतकीय प्रकरणका सम्पूर्ण विवरण, लेखाजोखा, साहित्यकारहरूका सम्पर्क नम्बर आदि गाभिइने जानकारी पनि आयोजना पक्षले कार्यक्रममा दिएको छ| यहॉंको महकुमा पुस्तकालयमा सम्पन्न बसिबियॉंलोको यस प्रकरणलाई कालेबुङ महाविद्यालयकी छात्रा कविता छेत्रीले घरपटित्व गरेकी थिइन्| उक्त प्रकरणमा स्थानीय साहित्यप्रेमी, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताहरूलगायत अतिथि साहित्यकारहरू सिलगड़ीबाट सी. के. श्रेष्ठ, मल्लीबाट हरीश मोक्तान अल्लारे अनि गान्तोकबाट सुदेश खाती प्रमुखले उपस्थित रहेका थिए|
यस दिनको कार्यक्रममा मुख्य रुपले गत नोभेम्बरमा पालन गरिएको दुइ दिने शतकीय प्रकरणमाथि छलफल भयो भने सोही अवसरमा आयोजना गरिएको चिट्ठा खेलाको परिणाम पनि घोषित गरियो जसमा कविता छेत्री, सुमती प्रधान, एस. ए. अहमद अनि सुनिता छेत्रीले नगद राशी प्राप्त गरेको घोषणा गरियो| शतकीय प्रकरणमा युवा अनि महिला साहित्यप्रेमीहरूको आशातीत उपस्थिति र सहभागिता रहेको विषयलाई स्वागतयोग्य ठहर गर्दै निकट भविष्यमा पनि सोही क्रम जारी रहने आशा व्यक्त गरिएको कार्यक्रममा मूल संयोजक शमसेर अलीले कालेबुङमा सम्पन्न हुने प्रस्तावित पर्यटन उत्सवबारे जानकारी गराए| शतकीय प्रकरणका कमी-कमजोरीहरूमाथि व्यापक रूपमा छलफल गरिएपछि उपस्थित साहित्यप्रेमीहरूले शतकीय प्रकरणपछि नयॉं अनुहारमा समाजअघि उभ्याउनका लागि बसिबियॉंलो -लाई अबउसो समाजको सुनिर्माणको दिशामा मुखरित गरिनुपर्ने आशय व्यक्त गरे| यसबारे, गाउँ-समाजमा विद्यमान् कतिपय असहज विषयहरूमा सुधार ल्याउने दिशामा कार्य गरिनुपर्ने सबैले अनुभव पोखे|
मूलतः सामाजिक रीतिथितिमा प्रचलित उत्सव बिहेबटुल रहेको अनि लोकलाजको कारण यस उत्सवलाई वर्तमान कालमा बुताले भ्याए पनि नभ्याए पनि भव्यतापूर्वक पालन गरिनैपर्ने चलन रहे तापनि बिहेघरको आर्थिक पक्ष र दाम्पत्य जोडीको भविष्यको उपयोगितालाई मध्यनजर गरेर अनुपयोगी उपहारहरू चढाउनको साटो नगद राशि प्रदान गरेर सहयोग पुर्याउनुपर्ने समयको माग रहेको विचार व्यक्त गरियो| यस विचारलाई कार्यन्वयन गराउनका निम्ति व्यापक प्रचार-प्रसार गर्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता अनुभव गरियो| यसै सिलसिलामा बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले स्थानीय समस्त समाजसचेत बुद्धिजीवी, शिक्षितवर्ग, लेखक-कवि, कलाकार, प्रतिभा, खेलाड़ी, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, विद्यार्थी, पेशागत व्यक्तिहरू, जात-गोष्ठीका संस्थाहरू, सरकारी-गैर सरकारी कर्मचारीवृन्द, सामाजिक संस्था, राजनीतिक सङ्गठन, दोकाने, पसले, मिडियाकर्मी सबैलाई यस विचारलाई व्यापकता दिने आग्रह गरेको छ| यसरी नै तकनिकी साधनहरूलाई पनि यस अभियानमा प्रयोग गरेर इ-मेल, फेसबुक, एस.एम.एस, ट्विटर, ब्लग, वेबसाइट, समाचार-पत्र, पत्रिका, पोष्टर, स्थानीय टिभी च्यानलमार्फत् पनि दाम्पत्य जीवनको नयॉं बाटो, नगद चढाऔं उपहारको साटो भन्ने उक्तिलाई प्रचार-प्रसार गरिदिने आग्रह समस्त सचेतवृन्दलाई बसिबियॉंलो परिवारले गरेको छ|

RAJEEV RAVIDAS, TT, Kalimpong, Dec. 25: The Kalimpong leg of the tea and tourism festival will kick off from tomorrow with “helicopter-hop”, rickshaw rides and a golf competition, events that are not being held in any other hill town hosting the winter extravaganza.

The Kalimpong leg will begin with a rally that will snake through the main roads of the town before assembling at the Mela Grounds.
To lend an extra flavour to the festival, cultural groups from Assam and Odisha will perform on the first day along with an army band that will march along the streets.
Tourists can also enjoy “helicopter-hop” where one can buy a ticket and go around town for almost 30 minutes in a chopper.
The helicopter will take off from the playground of Dr Graham’s Homes and drop the visitors at the same spot after the trip.
The organisers said the ticket prices have not been decided yet.
Visitors can also take a rickshaw ride from Thanadara to Jeevan Jyoti, a distance of about 1km.
“Rickshaws may be common in the plains but it is a novelty in the hills. We are hiring four rickshaws from Siliguri for the event,” said Tshering Topgay, the secretary of the organising committee.
For those who are not too enthusiastic about taking a rickshaw or a chopper ride, the fest also has to offer a flower show at Janmukti Park near Damber Chowk. The flower show will be open on all four days of the festival.
Those who love golf can get themselves registered and participate in a tournament that will be held at the picturesque Durpin course that belongs to the army.
The tea and tourism festival started in Darjeeling on December 20 and several cultural programmes were organised for the visitors. Mirik and Kurseong will also hold the fest that will end on January 5.
Sourabhee Debbarma and Kapil Thapa, the winner and the first runner-up of Indian Idol IV, will perform at the Mela Ground on the last day of the Kalimpong leg.
“Apart from the two, local singers and bands will also perform on all four days of the fest,” said Topgay.
The organisers are hopeful that the festival will draw a huge crowd. Hotels have registered almost hundred per cent bookings on all four days of the fest. “All the 10 rooms in our hotel are booked till December 29. It is tourist season once more,” said Sarat Rai, the manager of Tribeni Lodge at Thanadara.
Negligence or just bad luck!

As promised she set up Gorkhakand Territorial Authority an autonomous Council and solved the long pending Gorkhaland issue. She also successfully convinced to pass the bill in Bidhan Sabha to return 400 acres of land to Singur farmers. These are the major issues she solved and fulfilled promises made. Mamata Banerjee initiated various reforms mainly in health and education sector.

Ms Banerjee proved to be a pro-people leader and always stand against her party's ally and ruling government UPA every time the common people felt that the government is going against the people and making them suffer. She was in fact a protagonist in suspending FDI in retail sector until a consensus. And she also opposed UPA for continuous petrol price hike.
A simple question arises, is she somehow neglecting her own home state in solving the problem of country as a whole? Though she has been putting her efforts in progressing conditions in her home state, the very recent consecutive mass deaths highlights the negligence of the government or it could be simply a bad luck for the CM?
Early this month more than 90 people died when AMRI was ablazed, one of renowned hospital in Kolkata. Most of the victims died of suffocation and more than 50 people are injured, maximum of them seriously. Those lives would have been saved, if the authority would have been careful and alert. Just after few days, 143 people died in Sangampur in South Paraganas after consuming illicit country liquor which perhaps contained methanol (flammable liquid).
Bad luck did not leave Mamata here till date approximately 50 infants have died in government hospitals in different districts of Bengal. And this still continues.
This negligence or just a bad luck of government need to be cured soon, and before one more AMRI catches fire, before more hundreds of infants lose their lives and before more people will be made to drink illicit alcohol.
