Indefinite strike called by GJMM ..Strike called by ABGL on 24..No entry announced to three ABGL leaders...Rajen Mukhia resigned from GNLF

Nicole's escape a mystery
22 August, KalimNews: GJMM called an indefinite strike from 1 pm against the suspicious escape of Nicole Tamang from Police Custody. ABGL also threatened to call a strike on 24 August if he is not rearrested by 23 August.
GJMM fears that Nicole did not escape but is murdered by Police or he will be shown shot dead during a fake encounter. GJMM has demanded  that police should  produce him alive within 12 hours  . GJMM is of the opinion that it is Government's conspiracy to finish Nicole in the midst of murder enquiry.  GJMM  demonstrated before the Kalimpong Police station. Dr Harka Bdr Chhetri addressed the local media alleging the state government is involved in the Nicole's escape mystery with some mischievous intention .
Meanwhile, GJMM has issued another diktat prohibiting  Bharati Tamang, Pratap Khati, HB Zimba , Dawa Sherpa and Prof. Sushma Gurung to enter Darjeeling who were in Delhi to meet the Central leaders. They are also responsible for the escape of Nicole under mysterious condition, GJMM  alleged.
A rumour stating that Nicole is caught from Naxalbari was just a hoax.
Though Nicole was brought to Pradhan Nagar Police Station for  interrogation when he was granted remand by the CJM, why he was brought to DGHC guest house of Pintail Village is still a mystery. Other details regarding his escape is also yet to be detailed by the police. Police investigation regarding the escape is yet to be complete. IG Ranveer Kumar announced that Anirudh Chattopadhyay SI and constable Arabind Karmakar are suspended for  negligence of duty.
Police said that two constables accompanied Nicole to the toilet at about 3 am but after entering inside he did not come out fearing something unusual  the constables forced open the door and found that he had fled from the window which did not have any grill or rod. Nicole was in short and did not have any garments on the upper half of the body as well as was not wearing slippers at the time of his escape.
People suspect mysteries regarding the arrest and escape of Nicole. The first mystery is about his arrest on 25th May in Kakarvitta by Nepal Police and sudden release as Indian Police could not produce extradition papers. The second is his arrest on the night of 15th August just two days before the seventh round of tripartite talks and non appeal by police for police custody when Nicole was produced before the ACJM. Again just after the tripartite talks police applied for police custody on 18th August to the CJM and granted remand for police custody.
The recent mystery is about why he was kept in Pintail village while he was interrogated in Pradhan Nagar Thana and why the details of his escape from the police custody could not be detailed .
Nicole flees CID
ANI, Darjeeling, Aug 22: Nicole Tamang, Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) leader and the prime accused in killing of Madan Tamang, president of All India Gorkha League (AIGL), escaped from CID custody in Darjeeling's Pintail Village on Sunday.
Nicole Tamang was being held at a CID camp near Siliguri after being remanded to two week police custody by the Darjeeling court.
Nicole has been booked in three cases, the prime being the Madan Tamang murder case with non-bailable sections including 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy.)
The other two cases include one of vandalizing and destruction of property (bailable sections) under the Darjeeling police station and the other of theft (bailable section) under the Jorebungalow Police Station.
Madan Tamang was killed on May 21 after being attacked by unknown miscreants during a rally in Darjeeling city.
The Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) is the other forum spearheading the crusade for a separate state of Gorkhaland in West Bengal.
Madan Tamang also had demanded a separate state, but was opposed to the GJM"s stand on setting up an interim council for Darjeeling hills.
He was a vocal opponent of Bimal Gurung, chief of GJM, and had levelled certain corruption charges against him.
Mukhia and 1500 resigned from GNLF
KalimNews: Rajen Mukhia and his supporters of Panighatta left GNLF but didnot declare to have joined any party. Earlier Rajen Mukhia and about 1500 of his supporters had gone to approach Subhas Ghising President of GNLF to return to Darjeeling but Ghising was not at home. Later  Ghising visited Panighatta while his path was blocked by the supporters of GJMM.
Nicole flees CID
IANS, Darjeeling, Aug 22 : Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) leader Nicol Tamang, one of the main accused in Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League (ABGL) chief Madan Tamang’s murder, Sunday escaped from police custody in Darjeeling district, triggering unrest in the hills.
Nicol, kept in Pintail Village at a guest house near Dagapur in Siliguri run by the hill’s governing body Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) for interrogation hoodwinked the Indian Reserve Battalion policemen guarding him on the excuse of going to the toilet, Inspector General of Police (North Bengal) Ranveer Kumar told IANS.
Alleging that Nicol has been murdered by the police on the instructions of the state government, the GJM called an indefinite shutdown in the three Darjeeling Hill sub-divisions - Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong - from 1 p.m. Sunday.
On the other hand, the ABGL threatened to launch an indefinite shutdown in the hills if Nicol was not nabbed within 24 hours.
GJM spokesperson Harka Bahadur Chettri told IANS over the phone: “Nicol was ailing and he was under tight security so it was impossible for him to escape. We suspect that Nicol had collapsed because of heavy torture by the police and now to save their skin they have plotted the story of Nicol’s escape.”
“We demand that Nicol be presented before the people in good shape within 12 hours,” he said, adding: “All the shops and business establishment have been closed and the people have been urged to stop plying of vehicles from 6 p.m.”
ABGL general secretary Laxman Prasad said: “We have given 24 hours time to the police to re-arrest Nicol. otherwise we will call an indefinite strike in the hills.”
A section of ABGL leaders also alleged that to safeguard the GJM leaders, who had allegedly hatched the killing of Madan Tamang, the state government had stagemanaged Nicol’s escape.
Nicol, a close associate of GJM chief Bimal Gurung, was arrested from the Pool Bazar area in this West Bengal hill town for the May 21 murder of Madan Tamang.
The Darjeeling chief judicial magistrate’s court had remanded him to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) custody for 12 days.
Several senior police officers, including the Darjeeling police superintendent and an additional police superintendent, have been sent to the spot to look into the incident.
“A massive manhunt has been launched to recapture Nicol, whose arrest had followed the recovery of his mobile phone at the spot where Madan Tamang was killed,” said Inspector General of Police Ranveer Kumar.
On verifying the call details, it was revealed that Nicol was one of the masterminds of the attack.
“All police stations of north Bengal have been put on alert following Nicol’s escape and police were combing surrounding areas. The security agencies were also keeping a close watch on the international borders with Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh on the outskirts of Siliguri,” said the officer.
However, Darjeeling Police Superintendent D.P. Singh said: “I was unaware that Nicol was shifted to Pintail village for interrogation by the CID. He should have been kept in lock up in the police station. Technically speaking the security cover was not adequate for Nicol in Pintail camp.”
Two police personnel have been suspended for alleged negligence, said Raj Kanojia, additional director general of the CID.
Several tourists, including foreigners, are stranded in Darjeeling following the ongoing unrest in the hills.

  1. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO FLEE FROM THE TIGHT SECURITY OF POLICE AND CID?? IN ANY CASE THIS PROVE THE FAILURE OF WEST BENGAL GOVT AND IT PROVE THAT GJMM AND WEST BENGAL GOVT ARE HAND IN GLOVES.
THIS IS TO FOOL INNOCENT PEOPLE OF DARJEELING AS GJMM IS COMPROMISING WITH GOVT FOR SET UP.
THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR GORKHA COMMUNITY AS WHOLE. THE WOUND OF THE BETRAYAL OF GHISHING IN 80'S IS NOT EVEN HEALED NOW GJMM HAS SCRATCHED AND PUT SALT OVER IT.
ALL WHO EVER LIVES IN DARJEELING SHOULD COME FORWARD AND OPPOSE THIS GAA OR GIA WE DON'T NEED IT IF IT DOESN'T HAVE ALL THE TERRITORY WHICH WAS SOLD OUT BY DUFFER GHISHING.
THE ELECTION IN WEST BENGAL IN ANY CASE DOESN'T MAKE DIFFERENCE ON GORKHALAND MOVEMENT AS TRINAMOOL CONGRESS(MOST PROBABLE TO FORM GOVT IN WB)IS OPPOSE TO THE IDEA OF GORKHALAND.

  2. WHY SHOULD HJMM STOP ABGL LEADERS TO ENTER DARJEELING / WHO GAVE THEM THE AUTHORITY OVER THE CITIZENS TO BLOCK THE ENTRY INTO THEIR HOMELAND ? THIS ACT BY THE GJMM CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THEY ARE 100% INVOLVED IN MADAN TAMANG'S MURDER AND ARE VERY VERY SCARED OF THE ABGL LEADERS AND ALSO PROVES THAT GJMM ARE PAKKA GOONDAS AND MURDERERS AND BULLIES ONLY EXISTING ON THEIR VATUWA KUKUR FORCES STRENGTH AND CAN'T FACE THE REALITY. THEY ARE DALLAALS AND HUNGRY FOR MONEY. WORST THAN DACOITS. THEIR 24 BANDH IS JUST TO LET NICOLE TAMANG GET AWAY AND TO ASSIST HIM TO HIDE UNDERGROUND SO THAT HE DOES NOT SPEAK UP TO POINT OUT THE INVOLVEMENT OF GJMM LEADERS IN THE MURDER OF MADAN TAMANG WHO IS A REAL FEARLESS DARJEELING LOVING GORKHA.
