Disclosure of Proposal of GJMM to the Central Govt

KalimNews, 15th March: Bimal Gurung Chief of GJMM with his Central Committee members during a press conference held in Deolo Tourist Lodge of DGHC disclosed 10 page so called Secret Letter (Proposal) of GJMM to the Central Government of India. The letter was written by Bimal Gurung to P Chidambaram the Union Home Minister in consultation with a few selected close associates and the contents were not even disclosed to any including top ranking Central Committee members.   
Highlights:
1.      The name of the proposed  body to be formed in lieu of DGHC by ammendment of the 1988 agreement will be Gorkhaland Regional Authority or Darjeeling & Dooars Regional Authority 
2.      The term of the interim body will be upto December 2011.
3.     All Gorkhas must be declared as scheduled tribe.
4. It will have 102 specific powers and departments like judiciary, Education, PSC, Public order, Police  etc.
5.    Its area will be as indicated in the proposed revised map of GJMM
6. It will be composed of 55 members
7. It will be provided Rs.2,000 crore for 5 years
8. Waiver of all dues of taxes and revenues during the period of agitation


After a brief deliberation on the content of the letter a list of 8 member delegation to
take part in the Vth Tripartite Talks to be held on 18th March was also announced to the
swarm of Press personnel. They are: Roshan Giri, Amar Lama, H.B.Chhetri, Rohit 
Sharma, L.B.Pariyar, Amar Rai, S.N.Pradhan and P.Arjun,

Manipur militant arrested
Siliguri/Imphal, March 15 (PTI) In a major catch, the self-styled commander-in-chief of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL) Ningthoujam Tomba has been arrested by the West Bengal police and central intelligence agencies from Siliguri.
Darjeeling Superintendent of Police D P Singh said Tomba, alias Rajen, alias Koireng, was arrested last night from Khaprel Bazar under Matighara police station in a joint operation.
A satellite phone and documents were seized from the 57-year-old militant leader.
A woman, Saraswati Ray, who was staying with him was also arrested, he said. After interrogating them, two other women from Kurseong were arrested, the SP added.
A Manipur police commando team comprising two inspectors and a sub inspector were sent to Siliguri to assist the West Bengal police, official sources in Imphal said.
Tomba hailed from Nambol Kongkham village in Manipur's Bishenpur district.
