Demonstration in Janter Manter for Gorkhaland
Headline News, KalimNews, December 21: A sit in demonstration is organised by CPRM the second largest party of the hills at Janter Manter in New Delhi from today. The demonstration highlighted the demand of Gorkhaland as the one and only solution of the identity quest of Gorkhas of the entire country.
It was attended by members of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Naw Rajya Nirman Morcha, Gorkha Sahid Smarak Samity, CPIM(L), Smaller states Forum and others.On 22nd December it will submit a memorandum to Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister of India demanding creation of a separate state and clarifying that the formation of GTA is not the solution of the statehood demand.
Gorkhaland Task Force of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisang hduring a press conference held in Kalimpong informed the media regarding its future course of action. GTF will hold a meeting on January 8 for declaring the next step regarding the agitational programme targeting the March Parliament session.
It again informed the media that the centre leaders think that after the agreement of GTA, the Gorkha problem is already solved . While answering GTF team clarified to the parliamentarians that it is their illusion and the fact is quite different, as formation of GTA is not the demand of entire Gorkhas of the country but separate statehood. It is also believed that the government is trying to force all including those who are opposing to comply with GTA.

Dues worry for board - Amar Singh Rai takes oath as Darjeeling civic chief
Vivek Chhetri, TT, Darjeeling, Dec. 21: Amar Singh Rai was today sworn in as the chairman of the Darjeeling municipality and his immediate task will be the realisation of dues of Rs 4 crore.
The municipality, set up in 1850, is considered to be “one of the richest civic bodies” in the state in terms of assets. However, the municipality’s monthly expenses stand at Rs 45 lakh against the revenue of about Rs 25 lakh.
Rai said his first priority as the chairman of the municipality would be to raise the revenue.
“The liabilities of the municipality stand at around Rs 4 crore and we will have to work out ways and means to realise it. I have already talked to the DGHC administrator and north Bengal development minister Gautam Deb to get an idea of ways to approach the authorities for revenue. The civic body is struggling to stand on its feet even though it is one of the richest in the state,” said Rai.
Sources said the Rs 4 crore dues were largely in the form of tax. They also said the civic body owned more than 50-60 buildings in the town and no other municipality in the state had so many properties.
Rai was administered oath of office and secrecy by Darjeeling deputy magistrate Chewang Paljor. Sukh Bahadur Biswakarma took oath as the vice-chairperson of the civic body.
The Darjeeling municipality has to pool 20 per cent of the salaries paid to its 456 permanent staff members. The civic body does not get any financial help to pay 193 daily wage workers. They are paid Rs 75 each.
“The board shells out about Rs 1.02 crore per month to pay salaries and wages to its employees,” said Rai.
Apart from streamlining the finances, the municipality’s upgrade into a corporation also tops the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha-headed board’s priority list. “One of the first steps the new board wants to take is with regard to the municipality’s upgrade into a corporation,” said Rai.
The civic chief said even though he was hopeful that Balasun project would help tide over water scarcity in Darjeeling, the new board would seek the revamp of the water distribution system in the town with the help of the state government.
“I am also thinking of setting up standing committees of different departments to expedite the execution of various projects. We also want to make use of services of people from Darjeeling who are currently residing outside for the development of the town,” said Rai, who is a former vice-principal of Loreto College (now renamed as Southfield College).
The civic chief appealed to the people to shed the attitude of negativism. “I have never heard people talking good about the municipality. However, it is time that you shed negativism and come forward to help the board formulate people-friendly policies.”
New chairpersons were sworn in the other three hill municipalities also today. L.B. Pariyar and Ganga Maya Gurung assumed charge as the chairperson and the vice-chairperson of Kalimpong municipality respectively.
In Kuresong, Sameerdeep Blone was sworn in as the chairman, while Kalpana Pradhan took oath as the vice-chairperson. Mala Subba assumed charge as the chairperson of the Mirik municipality, while M.K. Zimba was sworn in as the vice-chairman.

उनी अनुसार जीटीएमा हस्ताक्षर गर्दै गोर्खाहरूको समस्याको समाधान भयो भन्नु सरकारको भ्रम रहेको छ। गोर्खाल्याण्ड प्रेमी जनतालाई सरकारको यो भ्रम धोका रहेको पनि घतानीले जनाएका छन्। क्रामाकपा आञ्चलिक अध्यक्ष किशोर प्रधानले राज्य प्राप्तिको लडाई क्रामाकपाको मात्र नभएर सम्पूर्ण गोर्खाहरूको अस्तित्व र चिह्नारीको प्रश्न रहेको बताउँदै भागोपको सामुहिकताको पहललाई क्रामाकपाको पूर्ण समर्थन रहेको बताए। यसै अवसरमा गोर्खाहरूको अलग राज्यको मागलाई समर्थन जनाउँदै स्मलर स्टेट फोरमबाट बाबा रामदेव तोमर पनि क्रामाकपाको धर्ना कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित थिए। तिनले पनि धर्नालाई सम्बोधन गर्दै दार्जीलिङका सांसद जसवन्त सिंहलाई मूल मुद्दाबाट पछि नहट्ने सुझाव दिए। पर्यवेक्षककोरुपमा रहेका शेखर छेत्री, दाताराम शर्मा, राजेश प्रधान, सुदन प्रधान, सन्तोष प्रधान अनि गोर्खाल्याण्ड नवराज्य निर्माण मोर्चाबाट टीका खाती अनि गोर्खा शहीद स्मारक समितिबाट एण्ड्रु गुरूङले पनि आफ्नो सम्बोधन राखे। धर्ना प्रदर्शनको क्रममा क्रामाकपा कार्यकर्ताहरूले गोर्खाल्याण्ड मागसहितको प्लाकार्डहरू बोकेर नाराबाजी गर्दै गोर्खाल्याण्ड सम्बन्धी दस्तावेजहरू पनि वितरण गरे।
मनोज बोगटी, कालिमन्युज, दिल्ली, 21 दिसम्बर। अलग राज्यको दाबीमा जीटीएले गोर्खाहरूको समस्याको समाधान हुँदैन भन्दै क्रामाकपाले आजदेखि दिल्लीको जन्तरमन्तरमा धर्ना शुरू गरेको छ। धर्ना कार्यक्रमलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै गक्रायुमो महासचिव अरुण घतानीले ठूलो वृक्षमुनी सानो वृक्षको वृद्धि सम्भव छैन भन्दै बङ्गालमा गोर्खाहरूको चिह्नारी र अस्तित्वको रक्षा नहुने बताए। गोर्खाल्याण्डको आवश्यकताको निम्ति क्रामाकपाले लगातार भारतको राजधानीमा छुट्टै राज्यको मुद्दाको उठान गरिरहेको जनाउँदै जबसम्म राज्य प्राप्ति हुँदैन तबसम्म आन्दोलन जारी रहने घतानीले बताएका छन्। बङ्गालले गोर्खाहरूलाई शैक्षिक, राजनैतिक हरेक क्षेत्रमा भेदभाव गरेको पनि तिनले आफ्नो सम्बोधनमा बताए। यही उत्पीडनबाट गोर्खाहरूलाई मुक्त गराउन केन्द्र सरकारले गोर्खाहरूको मागलाई गम्भीरतापूर्वक लिनुपर्ने तिनले माग गरेका छन्।

नगपार्षदहरूले लिए शपद महकुमा अधिकारीले सुम्पिए समस्या
मनोज बोगटी, कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ, 21 दिसम्बर । महकुमा अधिकारी एलएन शेर्पाले टाउको हल्का गर्दै आज नयॉं नगरपालिका वोर्डलाई कालेबुङ नगरको जम्मै समस्याहरू सुम्पिदिएका छन्। मोर्चाको टिकटमा निर्विरोध निर्वाचित बनेका नगरपार्षदहरूले आज भारतको संविधानलाई कदर गर्दै प्रतिवद्धतासाथ जनताको हितमा जिम्मेवारी अनि निष्ठापूर्व कार्य गर्ने वचन दिँदै शपद ग्रहण गरे। महकुमा अधिकारी, सङ्घ-संस्थाका प्रतिनिधिहरू, गोजमुमोका नेताहरू अनि अन्य अतिथिहरूको उपस्थितिबीच डिपुटी कलेक्टर एवं मेजिस्ट्रेट डिकी भोटियाले नगरपार्षदहरूलाई शपद ग्रहण गराइन्। शपद ग्रहणपछि आज नगरपार्षदहरूको पहिलो बैठक बस्यो जसमा वार्ड नम्बर 22 का नगरपार्षद एलबी परियारलाई नगराध्यक्ष अनि वार्ड नम्बर 15 का गंगामाया गुरूङलाई उप-नगरअध्यक्षको निम्ति सर्वसमितिले चयन गर्यो।
मोर्चाको आन्दोलनकालअवधी नगरपालिका चुनाउ वहिष्कार गरेकोले 2008 देखि यता महकुमा अधिकारीले नै शुरूबुरू देखरेख गरिरहेको नगरपालिकाको आज नयॉं वोर्ड गठन भयो। दुइ वर्षसम्म महकुमा अधिकारीले कालेबुङ नगरमा देखेका, भोगेका, गर्दैगरेका अनि गरेर पनि नसकेका जम्मै समस्याहरू नयॉं वोर्डलाई सुम्पिदिए। पिउने पानी, डम्पिङ, पार्किङ, झोडा, नाला, सडक आदि विविध समस्याहरू नयॉं वोर्डको निम्ति चुनौतिको रूपमा अघि आएको महकुमा अधिकारीले बताए। डम्पिङको समस्यालाई प्रमुखता दिँदै महकुमा अधिकारी एलएन शेर्पाले दलमान गाउँस्थित डम्पिङ ग्राउण्ड पैह्रोको कारणले पूर्ण हुन नसकेको जानकारी गराए। नोभेल्टी परिसर, सिडफार्मको नयॉं जमिन अनि कार्माइकल ग्राउण्डमा नयॉं मोटरस्ट्याण्डहरूको निम्ति कार्य चल्दैगरेको जानकारी गराउँदै यी तीनवटा मोटर स्टाण्डहरू निर्माण हुन नसकेको, कालेबुङको ट्राफिक समस्या समाधन हुने अनि यसको निम्ति नयॉं वोर्डले पहल गर्नुपर्ने बताए। सरकारको भरमा नगरपालिका बस्न नहुने सुझाउ राख्दै तिनले नगरपालिकाले आफै आर्थिक क्षमता वृद्धि गर्न विविध पहलहरू गर्नुपर्ने पनि सुझाउ राखे।
विगत छ महिना अवधी नगरपालिकाका कर्मचारीहरूको सहयोगमा नगरपालिकालाई आर्थिक रूपमा सक्षम पार्न अनि जनहितको निम्ति तिनले थुप्रै तरिकाहरू अप्नाएर राजस्व संग्रह गरेको बताए।
नगरमा स्थापित भएको मोबायल टावरहरूबाट मात्र 3.5 लाख रूपियॉं संग्रह गरेको महकुमा अधिकारीले बताए। घरदैलोबाट मैला उठाउने कार्य, पार्किङ व्यवस्थित पार्न राजस्व संग्रह गर्ने काम, सरकारी स्वार्थको निम्ति अवैध भवनहरू भत्काउने कामसँगै अन्य विविध समयस्याहरूलाई आफूले सकेजति गर्ने कोशिश गरेको र त्यसलाई नयॉं वोर्डले निरन्तरता दिनुपर्ने पनि महकुमा अधिकारीले सुझाउ राखे। महकुमा अधिकारीले समस्याको लामो सूची बोर्डलाई दिएपछि नगराध्यक्ष एलबी परियारले नगरलाई स्वच्छ राख्ने दिशामा आफूले सर्वप्रथम प्राथमिकता दिने बताउँदै मैलाबाट निक्लने उपाय पहिला खोज्नुपर्ने जनाए। नगरको समस्या समाधान गर्न वोर्डको मात्र जिम्मेवारी नरहेको बताउँदै नगरको प्रत्येक व्यक्ति विशेषले जिम्मेवारीपूर्वक कार्य गर्नुपर्ने बताए। आफ्नो घर आफैले सफा राख्नुपर्ने बताउँदै नगरका नागरिकहरूले नैतिक जिम्मेवारी बहन गर्नुपर्ने नगराध्यक्षले विचार व्यक्त गरे। महकुमा अधिकारीले राखेको नगरपालिकाले आफै आर्थिक उपार्जन गर्ने सुझाउलाई सही बताउँदै भिक्षा मागेर घर चलाउन नसकिने तिनले बताए। तिनले भने, नगरपालिका हाम्रो हो, सरकारको होइन। नगरपालिकाले आफ्नो निम्ति केही गर्नअघि आफूले पनि नगरपालिको निम्ति के गर्नपर्ने जनसाधरणले जान्न आवश्यक रहेको तिनले बताए।
नगरको सडकहरू मरमत्तिको निम्ति पनि आफूले केही सोँचेको अनि कालेबुङमा पानीको स्रोत धेरै हुँदाहुँदै पनि पानी सर्वराह भने सठिक ढङ्गमा नभएको बताउँदै यससम्बन्धी पनि पहल गर्ने नगराध्यक्ष एलबी परियारले बताए। नगरमा सिवेजको समस्या अधिक रहेकोले यससम्बन्धी पनि पहल गर्न जरूरी रहेको तिनले बताए।
गोटाफोले सार्वजनिक गर्यो भावी रणनीति
मनोज वोगटी, क़ालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ, 21 दिसम्बर। शुरुको दिनमा जीटीएले छुट्टै राज्यको मुद्दालाई कुनै बाधा खडा नगर्ने बताउने गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्सले अहिले राष्ट्रियस्तरबाट जीटीएको विरोध गरिरहेको छ। 'जब दिल्लीका वरिष्ठ राजनैतिक दलका नेता अनि सांसदहरूसित फोर्सले भेटघाट गर्यो, सबैले नै गोर्खाहरूको समस्याको समाधान जीटीएले गरिसकेको कुरा बतायो। वास्तवमा छुट्टै राज्यको मागको विकल्प नै जीटीए रहेको प्रचार गरिएको रहेछ।
अन्य छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति लडिरहेका आन्दोलनकारीहरूलाई पनि केन्द्रले 'गोर्खाहरूले जीटीएमा मानिसक्यो तिमीहरू पनि यही मोडल स्वीकार गर' भन्दै दवाब दिन शुरू गरिसकेको रहेछ। यसकारण जीटीएले छुट्टै राज्यको मार्गमा बाधा गरेको थाहा भएपछि राष्ट्रियस्तरमा यसको विरोध शुरू भएको हो' गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्सका अध्यक्ष डा. एनोसदास प्रधानले आज कालेबुङमा बताए। 'गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्सले जीटीएले गोर्खाहरूको समस्याको समाधान नगर्ने कुरा अनि गोर्खाहरूको माग जीटीए होइन छुट्टै राज्य मात्र रहेको कुरा दिल्लीका विभिन्न दलका नेता अनि सांसदहरूलाई बुझाउन हामी सक्षम बनेका छौं'-तिनले थपे। 'राज्य पुनर्गठन आयोग नै गठन भएको भए पनि यसपल्ट छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्ड केन्द्रको लिष्टबाट हटेको हुने थिएछ' तिनले अझ भने।
गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्स(गोटाफो)ले छुट्टै राज्यको मुद्दा बँचाएर आएको दाबी गर्दै तिनले भने, जोसित पनि भेट्यौं सबैले जीटीएको कुरा निकाले। उनीहरूले ठानेका रहेछन्, गोर्खाल्याण्डको समस्या ममता व्यानर्जीले समाधान गरिसकेका छन्। किन भने दिल्लीमा कसैले पनि जीटीएको विरोध र छुट्टै राज्यको मागमा कार्यक्रम गरेको छैन। उनीहरू जीटीएमा नै विश्वस्त रहेछन्। हामीलाई दुःख लाग्यो, छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति भइरहेको आन्दोलनले छुट्टै राज्यको मुद्दा नै सधैँको निम्ति हराइरहेका रहेछन्। विकासको मुद्दासित सम्पूर्ण भारत गोर्खाहरूको चिह्नारी र राजनैतिक सुरक्षाको मुद्दा साट्न हुने थिएन। राज्य र केन्द्रले जीटीएलाई छुट्टै राज्यको विकल्पकोरुपमा स्थापित गरिरहेको थाहा पाएपछि गोटाफोको कर्तव्य अहिलेलाई मुद्दा बँचाउनु रहेको थियो। त्यो काम सकियो, अब राज्यप्राप्तीको निम्ति रणनीति तयार गरिने छ। तिनले बताए अनुसार यसैको निम्ति गोटाफोले अहिले एउटा हाइपावर कमिटी बनाएको छ। जसले छुट्टैराज्यको ब्लु प्रिन्ट बनाउने कार्य गरिरहेको छ। यही ब्लु प्रिन्ट बोकेर गोटाफोले सम्पूर्ण सांसदहरूलाई भेट्ने छ।
डा.एनोसदास प्रधानले ब्लुप्रिन्टमा छुट्टै राज्यको औचित्य, आवश्यकता अनि आर्थिक सम्भाव्यताहरू उल्लेख हुने बताएका छन्। यसै पनि गोटाफोले गोर्खाल्याण्ड नामक पुस्तिका तयार पारिसकेको छ अनि अहिलेलाई त्यही पुस्तिकाले काम चलाइरहेको छ। ब्लुप्रिन्ट यसैको विस्तृतरुप हुने छ। पुस्तिकामा स्पष्ट उल्लेख गरिएको छ कि छुट्टै राज्य दार्जीलिङ अनि डुवर्सका भूभागहरूलाई लिएर गठन गरिनुपर्ने छ। यसको कारण अनि ऐतिहासिक पक्ष पनि उल्लेख गरिएको छ भने 1907 देखिको 2011 सम्म छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति दाबी गरिएका प्रमुख तथ्यहरू पनि समावेश गरिएको छ।
1907 मा नेबुलाद्वारा गरिएको संयुक्त ज्ञापन, 1917 मा हिलम्यान्स एसोसिएसन्सले,1929 मा सिमोन कमिशनले, 1947 मा कम्युनिष्ट पार्टीले गोर्खास्थानमा दाबीमा चढाएको मेमोरेण्डम, 1955मा राज्य पुनर्गठन आयोगलाई बुझाएको ज्ञापन देखि लिएर 1986 मा छुट्टै राज्यको दाबीमा भएको 1200 शहीद को कुरा, 1996 मा सीपीएममा विद्रोह गर्दै छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति आरबी राईद्वारा पार्टी गठन गरी आन्दोलन गरिएकोसम्म मात्र होइन 1996 मा नै लालकोठीमा छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति लिइएको प्रस्ताव, 2007 मा सामुहिकरुपले गरिएको आन्दोलन अनि 2011मा सिक्किम विधानसभाले गोर्खाल्याण्डको निम्ति ल्याइएको प्रस्तावसमेत उल्लेख गरिएको छ। संविधानले दिएको अधिकारलाई नै प्रयोग गर्दै गोटाफोले छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति आन्दोलन गर्ने बताइएको छ। यसको निम्ति गोटाफोले केही रणनीतिहरू आन्दोलनको पूर्वाधारकोरुपमा तयार पारेको छ। गोटाफोले 8 जनवरीको दिन रणनीति निर्माणको बैठक गर्नेछ भने यसैदिन भागोपले राष्ट्रियस्तरीय गोर्खा युवाहरूबीच अन्तरक्रिया गर्ने छ। युवावर्गलाई सैद्धान्तिकरुपमा विभाजित हुन नहुने सन्दर्भमा युवाहरूको अन्तरक्रिया हुने भएको छ भने गोटाफोले पूर्वाञ्चल र पश्चिमाञ्चलका राज्यहरूको विधानसभामा छुट्टै राज्यको प्रस्ताव पारित गराउने अनि त्यहॉंका गोर्खा सङ्गठनहरूलाई एकत्रित पार्ने कार्यक्रम शुरू गर्ने छ। यता मार्च महिनामा बजेट सत्रलाई ध्यानमा राख्दै गोटाफोले जन्तरमन्तरमा धर्ना दिनेछ। यसपछि दार्जीलिङ, कालेबुङ, मिरिक र खरसाङमा सङ्गोष्टी गर्नेछ। अहिलेदेखि नै हाइपावर कमिटी छुट्टै राज्यबारेका पुस्तक-पुस्तिका प्रकाशन र लेखनमा जुटिसकेको पनि डा.प्रधानले बताएका छन्।
पञ्चम र प्रतापको ‘कान्छी ल्याउने रहर’ समाप्त
मनोज बोगटी, कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ, 21 दिसम्बर। प्रताप सुब्बाको कान्छी ल्याउने रहर सकिएको छ। परालको आगो, अनि कहीँ अँध्यारो कहीँ उज्यालो जस्तो चर्चित चलचित्र बनाइसकेका चर्चित चलचित्र निर्देशक प्रताप सुब्बाले पीबी फिल्मस्को व्यानरमा बनिरहेको नेपाली कथानक चलचित्र कान्छी ल्याउने रहरको निर्देशन गरिरहेका छन्। चलचित्रको छायाङ्कन आज सकिएको छ। सुब्बाले भने, विवाहितहरूको एउटा विशेष समस्यामाथि चलचित्र बनिरहेको छ। तीनवटा परिवारको वरिपरि कथानक घुमेको छ। तीन विवाहित परिवारका लोग्नेहरूले आ-आफ्नै परिस्थितिमा कान्छी ल्याउने घटनालाई देखाइएको छ, जसले कान्छी ल्याउने रहर गर्ने अनि सौता आएको परिस्थिति झेल्नेहरूलाई मात्र होइन डल्लै समाजलाई नै एउटा उपयुक्त सन्देश दिने छ।
कालेबुङ, लाभा, मिरिक तथा अन्यान्य रमणीय क्षेत्रमा केही महिनादेखि छायाङ्कन भइरहेको चलचित्रमा कालेबुङ कै कलाकारहरू रहेका छन्। ललित गोले, मणि भूजेल, सञ्जु वाग्दास, विजय छेत्री अनि अनिल छेत्रीहरू विभिन्न भूमिकामा खेलेका छन् भने यसको नृत्य निर्देशन कमल राई, श्रृङ्गार रितु राणा, छायाङ्कन शेखर सुब्बा अनि सम्पादन सुनिल छेत्रीले गरिरहेका छन्। निर्माता पञ्चम सेवा रहेको चलचित्रलाई सहनिर्देशन भने विजय छेत्रीले गरिरहेका छन्। 'पहिलेको जस्तो फिल्मको क्रेज कालेबुङमा देखिएन' सुब्बाले भने- 'फिल्मको परिवेश बनाउन नै कालेबुङमा यो चलचित्रको छायाङ्कन गरिरहेको छु।'
तिनले तर कालेबुङका कलाकारहरूसित समय नरहेको मात्र होइन कलाप्रतिको रुझान पनि नभेटेको बताउँदै भने- 'परालको आगोको बेला कलाकारहरू सिरियस् थिए, अहिलेका कलाकारहरूमा त्यो छैन। कला, भाषा, संस्कृति अनि माटोको सम्मान गर्न जान्नुपर्छ।' तिनले यो चलचित्रबाट धेरै आशा राखेको बताउँदै शीघ्र नै यसको प्रदर्शन हुने जनाए। निर्माता पञ्चम सेवाले बताए अनुसार तिनका अघिल्ला चलचित्रहरूलाई दर्शकले माया गरेका थिए, त्यसैको फलस्वरुप कान्छी ल्याउने रहर अघि आइरहेको छ। तिनले भने, कालेबुङबाट बनिरहेको यो चलचित्रले दर्शकवर्गलाई धेरै मनोरञ्जन दिने छ।
‘Priceless’ wheels in fest parade
Vivek Chhetri, TT:Land Rovers, one of the vestiges of British legacy in the hills, rolled out on the streets of Darjeeling on Wednesday as part of the tea and tourism festival.
Only 35 Land Rovers from the 1954,’55 and ’56-make ply in the hills, but even to this day, these are the only vehicles that can negotiate the four-hour rough terrain to reach Sandakphu. Tourist hotspot Sandakphu is located in the Singalila wildlife sanctuary at 12,000ft, almost double Darjeeling’s altitude.
No modern vehicle has ever dared to ply on this route. Fifteen Land Rovers in the hills use petrol while others have been converted into diesel. “Petrol vehicles can only carry a weight of about six quintals but diesel Land Rovers can take eight quintals. Since the Land Rovers are the only means of transport for high-altitude villagers to ferry their goods, the owners who rent them out have converted their vehicles from petrol into diesel,” said Chandan Pradhan, the secretary of the Singalila Land Rovers’ Association.
Fourteen Land Rovers, which included eight that are petrol run, took part in the rally that started from Maneybhanjyan and ended before the Raj Bhawan in Darjeeling town.
Tourists were given a free ride between Maneybhanjyan and Darjeeling.
Despite the vehicles being more than 50 years old, they are considered priceless in the hills. “The vehicles are priceless and even though people hardly sell them, it will cost around Rs 3-4 lakh if there is an odd exchange of owners,” said Pradhan. The Land Rovers are mainly serviced in Maneybhanjyan and usually machine parts of old cars are modified to suit the needs.
AAGSU deeply condoles death of founder ULFA leader and revolutionary intellect Bhimkanta Buragohain
Guwahati 20th Dec 2011: The All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) has deeply condoled the death of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA)’s ideologue and the outfit’s political adviser Bhimkanta Buragohain (86) alias Mama who passed away on Monday because of a massive cardiac arrest at his residence in upper Assam.
In a media release Dil Bahadur Limboo AAGSU’s advisor said, ‘ULFA lost its father, we lost an intellect guide, pathfinder and torchbearer. Assam lost an intellectual figure of the state.’, he further added , ‘Late Bhimkanta Buragohain was a revolutionary intellect of Assam who guided and grouped youths of Assam to oppose suppression in a colonial rule. His political ideology has been an ideal one for regionalism spirited population of Assam. We the AAGSU deeply condoles the sudden demise of a legendry intellectual of Assam.’ Recalling his personal call on the political ideologue of the ULFA Limboo said , ‘Mama was farsighted well versed leader besides he honed several skills that amused all his revolutionary friends. I being an advisor of democratic community organistion was personally am touched at his huge heartedness and admire to idolize his leadership skills. May his departed soul rest in peace in heaven.’
Nanda Kirati Dewan, Information and Publicity Secy AAGSU was quoted as saying in Guwahti , ‘AAGSU deeply condoles the death of a veteran revolutionary figure of the state who had dreamt of a ‘haanghaat bihin bor axom’ wherein the indigenous Gorkhas surfaced as constituent ethnic community of Assam. Late Borgohain will always be remembered in the history of Assam for being a good ideologue and guide to the spirited youths. We adore his leadership skills so we call it an irreparable loss to the state’s intellect society.’
नगपार्षदहरूले लिए शपद महकुमा अधिकारीले सुम्पिए समस्या

मोर्चाको आन्दोलनकालअवधी नगरपालिका चुनाउ वहिष्कार गरेकोले 2008 देखि यता महकुमा अधिकारीले नै शुरूबुरू देखरेख गरिरहेको नगरपालिकाको आज नयॉं वोर्ड गठन भयो। दुइ वर्षसम्म महकुमा अधिकारीले कालेबुङ नगरमा देखेका, भोगेका, गर्दैगरेका अनि गरेर पनि नसकेका जम्मै समस्याहरू नयॉं वोर्डलाई सुम्पिदिए। पिउने पानी, डम्पिङ, पार्किङ, झोडा, नाला, सडक आदि विविध समस्याहरू नयॉं वोर्डको निम्ति चुनौतिको रूपमा अघि आएको महकुमा अधिकारीले बताए। डम्पिङको समस्यालाई प्रमुखता दिँदै महकुमा अधिकारी एलएन शेर्पाले दलमान गाउँस्थित डम्पिङ ग्राउण्ड पैह्रोको कारणले पूर्ण हुन नसकेको जानकारी गराए। नोभेल्टी परिसर, सिडफार्मको नयॉं जमिन अनि कार्माइकल ग्राउण्डमा नयॉं मोटरस्ट्याण्डहरूको निम्ति कार्य चल्दैगरेको जानकारी गराउँदै यी तीनवटा मोटर स्टाण्डहरू निर्माण हुन नसकेको, कालेबुङको ट्राफिक समस्या समाधन हुने अनि यसको निम्ति नयॉं वोर्डले पहल गर्नुपर्ने बताए। सरकारको भरमा नगरपालिका बस्न नहुने सुझाउ राख्दै तिनले नगरपालिकाले आफै आर्थिक क्षमता वृद्धि गर्न विविध पहलहरू गर्नुपर्ने पनि सुझाउ राखे।विगत छ महिना अवधी नगरपालिकाका कर्मचारीहरूको सहयोगमा नगरपालिकालाई आर्थिक रूपमा सक्षम पार्न अनि जनहितको निम्ति तिनले थुप्रै तरिकाहरू अप्नाएर राजस्व संग्रह गरेको बताए।
नगरमा स्थापित भएको मोबायल टावरहरूबाट मात्र 3.5 लाख रूपियॉं संग्रह गरेको महकुमा अधिकारीले बताए। घरदैलोबाट मैला उठाउने कार्य, पार्किङ व्यवस्थित पार्न राजस्व संग्रह गर्ने काम, सरकारी स्वार्थको निम्ति अवैध भवनहरू भत्काउने कामसँगै अन्य विविध समयस्याहरूलाई आफूले सकेजति गर्ने कोशिश गरेको र त्यसलाई नयॉं वोर्डले निरन्तरता दिनुपर्ने पनि महकुमा अधिकारीले सुझाउ राखे। महकुमा अधिकारीले समस्याको लामो सूची बोर्डलाई दिएपछि नगराध्यक्ष एलबी परियारले नगरलाई स्वच्छ राख्ने दिशामा आफूले सर्वप्रथम प्राथमिकता दिने बताउँदै मैलाबाट निक्लने उपाय पहिला खोज्नुपर्ने जनाए। नगरको समस्या समाधान गर्न वोर्डको मात्र जिम्मेवारी नरहेको बताउँदै नगरको प्रत्येक व्यक्ति विशेषले जिम्मेवारीपूर्वक कार्य गर्नुपर्ने बताए। आफ्नो घर आफैले सफा राख्नुपर्ने बताउँदै नगरका नागरिकहरूले नैतिक जिम्मेवारी बहन गर्नुपर्ने नगराध्यक्षले विचार व्यक्त गरे। महकुमा अधिकारीले राखेको नगरपालिकाले आफै आर्थिक उपार्जन गर्ने सुझाउलाई सही बताउँदै भिक्षा मागेर घर चलाउन नसकिने तिनले बताए। तिनले भने, नगरपालिका हाम्रो हो, सरकारको होइन। नगरपालिकाले आफ्नो निम्ति केही गर्नअघि आफूले पनि नगरपालिको निम्ति के गर्नपर्ने जनसाधरणले जान्न आवश्यक रहेको तिनले बताए।
नगरको सडकहरू मरमत्तिको निम्ति पनि आफूले केही सोँचेको अनि कालेबुङमा पानीको स्रोत धेरै हुँदाहुँदै पनि पानी सर्वराह भने सठिक ढङ्गमा नभएको बताउँदै यससम्बन्धी पनि पहल गर्ने नगराध्यक्ष एलबी परियारले बताए। नगरमा सिवेजको समस्या अधिक रहेकोले यससम्बन्धी पनि पहल गर्न जरूरी रहेको तिनले बताए।
गोटाफोले सार्वजनिक गर्यो भावी रणनीति
मनोज वोगटी, क़ालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ, 21 दिसम्बर। शुरुको दिनमा जीटीएले छुट्टै राज्यको मुद्दालाई कुनै बाधा खडा नगर्ने बताउने गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्सले अहिले राष्ट्रियस्तरबाट जीटीएको विरोध गरिरहेको छ। 'जब दिल्लीका वरिष्ठ राजनैतिक दलका नेता अनि सांसदहरूसित फोर्सले भेटघाट गर्यो, सबैले नै गोर्खाहरूको समस्याको समाधान जीटीएले गरिसकेको कुरा बतायो। वास्तवमा छुट्टै राज्यको मागको विकल्प नै जीटीए रहेको प्रचार गरिएको रहेछ।
अन्य छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति लडिरहेका आन्दोलनकारीहरूलाई पनि केन्द्रले 'गोर्खाहरूले जीटीएमा मानिसक्यो तिमीहरू पनि यही मोडल स्वीकार गर' भन्दै दवाब दिन शुरू गरिसकेको रहेछ। यसकारण जीटीएले छुट्टै राज्यको मार्गमा बाधा गरेको थाहा भएपछि राष्ट्रियस्तरमा यसको विरोध शुरू भएको हो' गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्सका अध्यक्ष डा. एनोसदास प्रधानले आज कालेबुङमा बताए। 'गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्सले जीटीएले गोर्खाहरूको समस्याको समाधान नगर्ने कुरा अनि गोर्खाहरूको माग जीटीए होइन छुट्टै राज्य मात्र रहेको कुरा दिल्लीका विभिन्न दलका नेता अनि सांसदहरूलाई बुझाउन हामी सक्षम बनेका छौं'-तिनले थपे। 'राज्य पुनर्गठन आयोग नै गठन भएको भए पनि यसपल्ट छुट्टै राज्य गोर्खाल्याण्ड केन्द्रको लिष्टबाट हटेको हुने थिएछ' तिनले अझ भने।
गोर्खाल्याण्ड टास्क फोर्स(गोटाफो)ले छुट्टै राज्यको मुद्दा बँचाएर आएको दाबी गर्दै तिनले भने, जोसित पनि भेट्यौं सबैले जीटीएको कुरा निकाले। उनीहरूले ठानेका रहेछन्, गोर्खाल्याण्डको समस्या ममता व्यानर्जीले समाधान गरिसकेका छन्। किन भने दिल्लीमा कसैले पनि जीटीएको विरोध र छुट्टै राज्यको मागमा कार्यक्रम गरेको छैन। उनीहरू जीटीएमा नै विश्वस्त रहेछन्। हामीलाई दुःख लाग्यो, छुट्टै राज्यको निम्ति भइरहेको आन्दोलनले छुट्टै राज्यको मुद्दा नै सधैँको निम्ति हराइरहेका रहेछन्। विकासको मुद्दासित सम्पूर्ण भारत गोर्खाहरूको चिह्नारी र राजनैतिक सुरक्षाको मुद्दा साट्न हुने थिएन। राज्य र केन्द्रले जीटीएलाई छुट्टै राज्यको विकल्पकोरुपमा स्थापित गरिरहेको थाहा पाएपछि गोटाफोको कर्तव्य अहिलेलाई मुद्दा बँचाउनु रहेको थियो। त्यो काम सकियो, अब राज्यप्राप्तीको निम्ति रणनीति तयार गरिने छ। तिनले बताए अनुसार यसैको निम्ति गोटाफोले अहिले एउटा हाइपावर कमिटी बनाएको छ। जसले छुट्टैराज्यको ब्लु प्रिन्ट बनाउने कार्य गरिरहेको छ। यही ब्लु प्रिन्ट बोकेर गोटाफोले सम्पूर्ण सांसदहरूलाई भेट्ने छ।

मनोज बोगटी, कालिमन्युज, कालेबुङ, 21 दिसम्बर। प्रताप सुब्बाको कान्छी ल्याउने रहर सकिएको छ। परालको आगो, अनि कहीँ अँध्यारो कहीँ उज्यालो जस्तो चर्चित चलचित्र बनाइसकेका चर्चित चलचित्र निर्देशक प्रताप सुब्बाले पीबी फिल्मस्को व्यानरमा बनिरहेको नेपाली कथानक चलचित्र कान्छी ल्याउने रहरको निर्देशन गरिरहेका छन्। चलचित्रको छायाङ्कन आज सकिएको छ। सुब्बाले भने, विवाहितहरूको एउटा विशेष समस्यामाथि चलचित्र बनिरहेको छ। तीनवटा परिवारको वरिपरि कथानक घुमेको छ। तीन विवाहित परिवारका लोग्नेहरूले आ-आफ्नै परिस्थितिमा कान्छी ल्याउने घटनालाई देखाइएको छ, जसले कान्छी ल्याउने रहर गर्ने अनि सौता आएको परिस्थिति झेल्नेहरूलाई मात्र होइन डल्लै समाजलाई नै एउटा उपयुक्त सन्देश दिने छ।
कालेबुङ, लाभा, मिरिक तथा अन्यान्य रमणीय क्षेत्रमा केही महिनादेखि छायाङ्कन भइरहेको चलचित्रमा कालेबुङ कै कलाकारहरू रहेका छन्। ललित गोले, मणि भूजेल, सञ्जु वाग्दास, विजय छेत्री अनि अनिल छेत्रीहरू विभिन्न भूमिकामा खेलेका छन् भने यसको नृत्य निर्देशन कमल राई, श्रृङ्गार रितु राणा, छायाङ्कन शेखर सुब्बा अनि सम्पादन सुनिल छेत्रीले गरिरहेका छन्। निर्माता पञ्चम सेवा रहेको चलचित्रलाई सहनिर्देशन भने विजय छेत्रीले गरिरहेका छन्। 'पहिलेको जस्तो फिल्मको क्रेज कालेबुङमा देखिएन' सुब्बाले भने- 'फिल्मको परिवेश बनाउन नै कालेबुङमा यो चलचित्रको छायाङ्कन गरिरहेको छु।'
तिनले तर कालेबुङका कलाकारहरूसित समय नरहेको मात्र होइन कलाप्रतिको रुझान पनि नभेटेको बताउँदै भने- 'परालको आगोको बेला कलाकारहरू सिरियस् थिए, अहिलेका कलाकारहरूमा त्यो छैन। कला, भाषा, संस्कृति अनि माटोको सम्मान गर्न जान्नुपर्छ।' तिनले यो चलचित्रबाट धेरै आशा राखेको बताउँदै शीघ्र नै यसको प्रदर्शन हुने जनाए। निर्माता पञ्चम सेवाले बताए अनुसार तिनका अघिल्ला चलचित्रहरूलाई दर्शकले माया गरेका थिए, त्यसैको फलस्वरुप कान्छी ल्याउने रहर अघि आइरहेको छ। तिनले भने, कालेबुङबाट बनिरहेको यो चलचित्रले दर्शकवर्गलाई धेरै मनोरञ्जन दिने छ।
‘Priceless’ wheels in fest parade
Vivek Chhetri, TT:Land Rovers, one of the vestiges of British legacy in the hills, rolled out on the streets of Darjeeling on Wednesday as part of the tea and tourism festival.
Only 35 Land Rovers from the 1954,’55 and ’56-make ply in the hills, but even to this day, these are the only vehicles that can negotiate the four-hour rough terrain to reach Sandakphu. Tourist hotspot Sandakphu is located in the Singalila wildlife sanctuary at 12,000ft, almost double Darjeeling’s altitude.No modern vehicle has ever dared to ply on this route. Fifteen Land Rovers in the hills use petrol while others have been converted into diesel. “Petrol vehicles can only carry a weight of about six quintals but diesel Land Rovers can take eight quintals. Since the Land Rovers are the only means of transport for high-altitude villagers to ferry their goods, the owners who rent them out have converted their vehicles from petrol into diesel,” said Chandan Pradhan, the secretary of the Singalila Land Rovers’ Association.
Fourteen Land Rovers, which included eight that are petrol run, took part in the rally that started from Maneybhanjyan and ended before the Raj Bhawan in Darjeeling town.
Tourists were given a free ride between Maneybhanjyan and Darjeeling.
Despite the vehicles being more than 50 years old, they are considered priceless in the hills. “The vehicles are priceless and even though people hardly sell them, it will cost around Rs 3-4 lakh if there is an odd exchange of owners,” said Pradhan. The Land Rovers are mainly serviced in Maneybhanjyan and usually machine parts of old cars are modified to suit the needs.
AAGSU deeply condoles death of founder ULFA leader and revolutionary intellect Bhimkanta Buragohain
Guwahati 20th Dec 2011: The All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) has deeply condoled the death of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA)’s ideologue and the outfit’s political adviser Bhimkanta Buragohain (86) alias Mama who passed away on Monday because of a massive cardiac arrest at his residence in upper Assam.
In a media release Dil Bahadur Limboo AAGSU’s advisor said, ‘ULFA lost its father, we lost an intellect guide, pathfinder and torchbearer. Assam lost an intellectual figure of the state.’, he further added , ‘Late Bhimkanta Buragohain was a revolutionary intellect of Assam who guided and grouped youths of Assam to oppose suppression in a colonial rule. His political ideology has been an ideal one for regionalism spirited population of Assam. We the AAGSU deeply condoles the sudden demise of a legendry intellectual of Assam.’ Recalling his personal call on the political ideologue of the ULFA Limboo said , ‘Mama was farsighted well versed leader besides he honed several skills that amused all his revolutionary friends. I being an advisor of democratic community organistion was personally am touched at his huge heartedness and admire to idolize his leadership skills. May his departed soul rest in peace in heaven.’
Nanda Kirati Dewan, Information and Publicity Secy AAGSU was quoted as saying in Guwahti , ‘AAGSU deeply condoles the death of a veteran revolutionary figure of the state who had dreamt of a ‘haanghaat bihin bor axom’ wherein the indigenous Gorkhas surfaced as constituent ethnic community of Assam. Late Borgohain will always be remembered in the history of Assam for being a good ideologue and guide to the spirited youths. We adore his leadership skills so we call it an irreparable loss to the state’s intellect society.’
