Mumbai runners in Kalimpong
KalimNews: Roshni Rai of Pedong an ace marathon runner of Mumbai is running a 50 km Friendly Group Long Run from Rambi to Pedong on 1st May 2011. Long distance marathon runners Ms. Asha Arora from Chandigarh, Mr. Brijesh Gajera from Bangalore, Mr. Amit Joshi from Mumbai, Mr.Vishwas Bhamburkar from Ahmedabad will also participate in the FGLR jointly organized by Kalimpong Veteran’s Club, Pedong Youth Sports Association and Kalimpong Press Club. Marathon runners of Darjeeling and Kalimpong including a lady doctor too are participating in the run.
A friendly run that starts at 5 am from Rambi in NH 31A will finish at Pedong with a grand felicitation programme organized by Pedong Youth Sports Association. Runners will reach Kalimpong at around 8 to 8.30 am and will be accompanied by senior citizens of Kalimpong in the town. Runners will be felicitated in the premises of Kalimpong Town Hall after which all the runners will proceed towards Pedong for the finishing 20 km run. Runners will be awarded with certificates. The FGLR is being supported by people of Rambi, Ryang Police station and Rambi PHC.
Roshni bagged the Mumbai Runner's Best Runner Award on 22 January 2011 in Mumbai for adjudging best female runner in the Mumbai Marathon (42 km). She was honoured with this award in a function held at Juhu-Ville Parle Gymkhana Club. She also received another award Hall of Fame for coming within 5th position in different events. Roshni Rai had stood first in two I-races (10km), 3rd in Ultra Marathon (50km) held in Bangalore on 14th Nov, 2010, 3rd in Boriveli National Park Half Marathon (21km) and was the only Indian to take part in Prague international marathon on 9th May, 2010.
Roshni is a legal executive of Colgate Palmolive in Mumbai.
